FY26 ARTS HUNTSVILLE GRANT PROGRAMS



2026 Arts & Cultural Grant Program 

Huntsville, Alabama, has been recognized nationally for its strong economic base, moderate cost of living, and excellent quality of life. The city’s arts and cultural offerings are important quality of life amenities that serve residents and visitors. Huntsville's arts and culture sector also helps to attract new businesses and workforce while creating opportunities for economic growth and prosperity. At the same time, Huntsville’s arts and cultural scene helps to develop local identity while celebrating diversity and fostering understanding within our community. Overall, Huntsville’s arts and cultural organizations contribute financially to the local economy, generating over $89.9 million in economic impact annually.

In fall 2012, the City of Huntsville joined peer cities across the nation by establishing a publicly-funded arts and cultural grant program. FY24 grant applications are now being accepted from eligible arts and cultural organizations. Applicant organizations must meet the following eligibility requirements;


  • Nonprofit arts and cultural (i.e., visual art, music, dance, theater, or literary) organization with current 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.

  • Primary mission of year-round arts and cultural (i.e., visual art, music, dance, theater, or literary) programming.

  • Must be in existence for three years with evidence of public programming in Huntsville dating from January 2023 or earlier. Organizational business operations and primary programming must be located within the City of Huntsville or the downtown core (defined for grant purposes as the area bordered by California Street, Bob Wallace Ave., Triana Blvd. and I-565/Pratt Avenue).

  • Ability to provide a 1:1 cash match for grant funding.

  • A commitment to nondiscrimination practices as defined by Federal and Alabama State constitutional and statutory law.

Arts IDEA Grants

As part of Arts Huntsville’s FY25 funding appropriation, the Huntsville City Council approved $25,000 in funding to support Arts IDEA grants to help grow and support community-driven, neighborhood-based, culturally diverse, inclusive, and accessible arts programming through Arts IDEA grants. Arts Huntsville will work with the City of Huntsville’s Office of Multicultural Affairs and Music Offices to implement this new grant program. IDEA grant applications of $1,000 to $4,000 will open on October 1, 2025. Applications will be reviewed in mid-October, February, May, and August annually until all funds are expended for the year.
